Biography
Dr. G. Balaji is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM TRP Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli. He obtained his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from VRS College of Technology, M.E. in Engineering Design from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, and Ph.D. from Government College of Technology, Coimbatore, affiliated to Anna University. He is also a Former CSIR Senior Research Fellow.
He possesses 12 years of professional experience, comprising 5.5 years of teaching experience, 4.5 years of research experience, and 2 years of industrial experience. His areas of specialization include Wind Energy Systems, Engineering Design, Additive Manufacturing, Composite Materials, Hydrogen Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, Machine Design, and Optimization Techniques.
His research focuses on wind turbine blade performance enhancement using blended winglets, renewable energy systems, hydrogen energy technologies, additive manufacturing of advanced materials, tribological behaviour of metal matrix composites, and optimization techniques using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. His doctoral research entitled "Numerical Investigations on Performance Analysis of Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine with Blended Winglet" has significantly contributed to the field of renewable energy and wind turbine performance improvement.
Dr. Balaji has published 7 research papers in SCI, SCIE, ESCI and Scopus-indexed journals and has presented several research papers in national and international conferences. He has successfully completed 5 NPTEL courses and actively participates in Faculty Development Programmes, workshops, and research activities.
Apart from teaching and research, he serves as Research Laboratory In-charge, NPTEL Department Coordinator, Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) Department Coordinator, Centre of Excellence – Smart and Sustainable Mobility Coordinator, Product Development Club Coordinator, and Faculty Advisor for student innovation and competition teams. He actively promotes industry-oriented learning, research culture, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable engineering solutions among students.
His contributions in academic administration, student mentoring, renewable energy research, electric vehicle competitions, additive manufacturing, and product development continue to strengthen the academic and research ecosystem of the institution.
