Dr. S. Jayasathyakawin

Dr. S. Jayasathyakawin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM TRP Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. He holds a Fulltime Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University Chennai (2023), with a thesis focused on silicon carbide, hydroxyapatite, and zinc oxide reinforced magnesium matrix composites developed through powder metallurgy. He also holds an M.E. in Manufacturing Engineering from Anna University (2019) with a CGPA of 8.42.

With over 5.7 years of combined teaching and research experience, Dr. Jayasathyakawin has established himself as a prolific researcher in materials science. His primary areas of interest include composite materials, powder metallurgy, metal matrix composites, materials synthesis, and materials characterization.

His research impact is reflected in his academic metrics — 568+ citations on Google Scholar, 471+ citations on Scopus, an h-index of 11, and an i10-index of 11. He has authored and co-authored more than 20 international journal publications, including articles in prestigious Q1 journals such as Materials Today Communications (IF 4.9), Journal of Alloys and Compounds (IF 6.7), Metals and Materials International (IF 4), and Heliyon (IF 4).

Dr. Jayasathyakawin has been recognized as a Distinguished Research Supervisor by Anna University Chennai and serves as a reviewer for multiple SCI-indexed journals including Heliyon, Silicon, Materials Today Communications, and Materials Research Express. He is also a co-inventor on a granted Australian patent and a published Indian patent related to fuel distribution system technology.

He has received R&D funding from the Institution of Engineers India (IEI) for his project on hydroxyapatite-reinforced magnesium-based composites via spark plasma sintering for biomedical applications (Grant: ₹1,00,000).

Beyond research, Dr. Jayasathyakawin is an active academic organizer, having conducted numerous workshops, seminars, and faculty development programs on topics ranging from 3D printing and additive manufacturing to entrepreneurship and overseas education. He also serves as the department coordinator for MIS, EDC, International Relations, Foreign Language and Higher Studies and leads accreditation efforts for NBA (Criteria 3) and NAAC (Criteria 2).

He is an Associate Member of IEI (The Institution of Engineers India) and has been an active member of SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers).
