Dr. V. Lakshmanan

Dr. V. Lakshmanan earned his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, his M.E. in Manufacturing Engineering from Govt. College of Technology, Coimbatore, and his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy on "Dissimilar Joining of Incoloy 800HT to P91 Steel Using GTAW & Laser Beam Welding" (CGPA: 8.75, 2015–2019), under Dr. P. Sathiya. He has over 10 years of professional experience in research, teaching, and mentorship. His areas of specialisation include advanced welding technologies (GTAW, Laser Beam Welding, Spin Arc Welding), dissimilar material joining, microstructure–property relationships, and metallurgical characterisation using FESEM, TEM, EBSD, XRD, and Thermo-Calc. He is recognised by Anna University, Chennai as a Ph.D. Research Supervisor (Ref. No. 4020006, Lr. No. SUPR/AR2, dated 25.06.2022) in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering with specialisation in Manufacturing Engineering. He is currently guiding one Full-Time Ph.D. scholar (Mr. S. Ramana, Reg. No. 25132591198, January 2025 session), who has completed the Comprehensive Examination. Dr. Lakshmanan has published 8 research papers (6 SCI-indexed), three first-authored Scopus-indexed book chapters (Taylor & Francis), and one published patent. He received the MHRD Institute Fellowship, has served as a Session Chair, and is a reviewer for Surface Review and Letters and Materials Today: Proceedings. He is a Life Member of The Institution of Engineers (India) and an Annual Member of SAE India.
