Dr.A.Narayanan

Dr. A. Narayanan is a distinguished academician, researcher, and trainer with over 27 years of rich experience in English Language Teaching, Communication Skills, Soft Skills Development, and Verbal Aptitude Training. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English at SRM TRP Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, a position he has held since June 2023.

A dedicated educator, Dr. A.Narayanan began his teaching career in 2001 as Lecturer at Saranathan College of Engineering for nearly seventeen years, progressing from Lecturer to Associate Professor. Later, he worked as Head of the Department of Soft Skills at Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College, Tiruchirappalli, where he contributed significantly to student employability and personality development initiatives.

Dr. A.Narayanan earned his Ph.D. in English from Bishop Heber College, affiliated with Bharathidasan University, in 2015. He also holds an M.Phil. in English from Jamal Mohamed College and an M.A. and B.A. in English from National College and Bishop Heber College respectively.

His areas of expertise include Technical English, Communicative English, Business English Communication, English Grammar, Soft Skills Training, and Verbal Aptitude Coaching. With more than fifteen years of experience as a Verbal Aptitude Trainer, he has played a vital role in preparing students for campus recruitment drives conducted by leading multinational companies. His learner-centric and communicative approach to language teaching has consistently produced excellent academic outcomes.

Dr. A.Narayanan has made notable contributions to research and academic publishing. His scholarly work includes publications in Scopus-indexed conference proceedings, peer-reviewed international journals, and national journals. He has also presented papers at national seminars and served as the editor of the book Useful Prompts for Academicians, published in December 2024.

Throughout his career, he has received several recognitions for academic excellence. He was awarded cash prizes for achieving 100% results in Engineering English courses for three consecutive years and was selected for the Best Teacher Award during the academic years 2021–2022 and 2022–2023. A British Council-certified BEC Trainer, he has successfully trained students for more than a decade, helping them excel in professional communication and placement processes.

His professional contributions extend beyond classroom teaching. He has served as a Jury Member for ICTACT Youth Present, delivered numerous guest lectures, and acted as Chairman of the English Board for Anna University Central Valuation for several years. Additionally, he has successfully completed NPTEL courses on Soft Skills Development and Emotional Intelligence, further enriching his expertise in student development.
