Mr. D. Manikandan

Dr. D. Manikandan earned his B.E., M.E., and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering and possesses 17 years of professional experience, comprising 16 years in academia and 1 year in industry. His areas of specialization include Composite Materials, Polymer Composites, Additive Manufacturing, Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. D. Manikandan has been actively involved in teaching, research, academic administration, accreditation activities, and industry interaction. His research interests focus on natural fiber composites, hybrid polymer composites, tribological behavior of composite materials, sustainable materials, additive manufacturing, and advanced manufacturing processes. He has published more than 30 research papers in reputed national and international journals and conferences.

Dr. D. Manikandan serves as an Editorial Board Member of the Q1 SCIE indexed journal Scientific Reports. He actively contributes to the peer-review and editorial processes, supporting the dissemination of high-quality scientific research. He is currently serving as the Research Coordinator of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM TRP Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli, where he actively promotes research activities, publication initiatives, patent filing, funded research projects, and collaborative research among faculty members and students. 

Dr. D. Manikandan served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Engineering College from June 2010 to June 2014. Since June 2014, he has been serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM TRP Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. D. Manikandan has actively participated in academic administration, outcome-based education implementation, accreditation activities, student mentoring, and industry–institution interaction programs. He has served as Class Coordinator and has contributed significantly to assessment activities, curriculum delivery, and departmental development initiatives.

Dr. D. Manikandan has guided numerous undergraduate projects and actively promotes research culture among students. He has organized and coordinated workshops, seminars, faculty development programs, industrial visits, and technical events. His contributions have played an important role in strengthening engineering education, research activities, industry-oriented learning, and skill development among students.

His current research work focuses on natural filler reinforced polymer composites, hybrid vinyl ester composites, sustainable materials, tribological behavior of composites, and advanced manufacturing applications. He continues to contribute to engineering education and research through academic excellence, innovative research, and professional development activities.
